Stock Market Holidays November 2026 (NSE, BSE, MCX)
Updated: 1 day ago
November 2026 has two weekday trading holidays on Indian exchanges: Tuesday 10 November (Diwali-Balipratipada) and Tuesday 24 November (Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev, also called Guru Nanak Jayanti). Equity and equity-derivatives trading on NSE and BSE is closed on both days. Commodity markets close only for the morning session and open again for the evening session.
There is also a special Diwali Muhurat trading session on Sunday 8 November 2026. All dates and timings below come from official NSE, BSE and MCX circulars and holiday pages, opened on 24 October 2026. Links are in the Sources section.
November 2026 market holidays at a glance
Date | Occasion | NSE and BSE equity | MCX |
|---|---|---|---|
Tue, 10 Nov | Diwali-Balipratipada | Closed | Morning closed, evening open |
Tue, 24 Nov | Guru Nanak Jayanti | Closed | Morning closed, evening open |
Sun, 8 Nov | Diwali Laxmi Pujan | Muhurat session only | Muhurat session only |
Every other weekday in November 2026 is a normal trading day, because no other weekday is on the exchanges' 2026 holiday lists. That includes Monday 9 November, between the Muhurat session and Diwali-Balipratipada.
NSE holidays in November 2026
NSE's holiday circular for 2026 (NSE/CMTR/71775, dated 12 December 2025) lists two November holidays for the capital market (equity) segment:
Tuesday, 10 November 2026: Diwali-Balipratipada
Tuesday, 24 November 2026: Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev
The equity derivatives (F&O) circular, NSE/FAOP/71777, gives the same two dates. Both circulars also list Sunday 8 November (Diwali Laxmi Pujan) as a weekend holiday and say Muhurat trading will be held that day.
NSE's commodity derivatives segment works differently. Its 2026 circular, NSE/COM/71784 (15 December 2025), shows the morning session (from 9 am) closed and the evening session (from 5 pm) open on both 10 November and 24 November.
BSE holidays in November 2026
BSE's 2026 trading holiday list for the equity and equity derivatives segments gives the same two days: Diwali Balipratipada on 10 November and Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev on 24 November. Both days are also holidays in BSE's currency derivatives segment.
For BSE's commodity derivatives segment, the list shows the morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) closed and the evening session (5:00 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm) open on both days.
MCX holidays in November 2026: morning and evening sessions
MCX runs two sessions: a morning session from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and an evening session from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm or 11:55 pm. MCX's 2026 trading holiday page lists:
Date | Holiday (as MCX names it) | Morning | Evening |
|---|---|---|---|
Tue, 10 Nov | Diwali-Balipratipada | Closed | Open |
Tue, 24 Nov | Guru Nanak Jayanti | Closed | Open |
So on both days MCX contracts trade only in the evening, from 5:00 pm. The same page notes that for internationally linked agricultural commodities the evening session runs from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
If you trade MCX contracts, these session timings matter more than the equity holiday dates. Our comparison of commodity brokers in India covers which brokers offer MCX access and what they charge.
Muhurat trading on Sunday, 8 November 2026
Muhurat trading has been officially announced. All three exchanges issued circulars on 19 October 2026 for a special session on Sunday 8 November, the day of Diwali Laxmi Pujan. The main trading windows are:
Market | Trading window (IST) | Source |
|---|---|---|
NSE equity | 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm | NSE/CMTR/76941 |
BSE equity | 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm | BSE notice 20261019-9 |
BSE equity derivatives | 2:20 pm to 3:40 pm | BSE notice 20261019-10 |
NSE commodity | 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm | NSE/COM/76978 |
MCX | 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm | MCX/TRD/590/2026 |
Some extra details from the same circulars:
NSE equity: a block deal window runs from 1:50 pm to 2:05 pm and the pre-open session from 2:05 pm to 2:20 pm. Securities in the closing auction session (CAS) stop normal trading at 3:15 pm.
MCX: a special session runs from 2:05 pm to 2:19 pm, before the 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm trading session. The client code modification session runs from 2:20 pm to 3:45 pm.
NSE's circulars say all trades in the Muhurat session "shall result in settlement obligations". In other words, these are real trades, settled like trades on any other day.

Planning around the November holidays
If you place orders through a broker, also read any holiday notice your broker publishes about its own order and fund-transfer timings. Our list of SEBI-registered stock brokers in India shows how to confirm a broker's registration.
BSE's holiday list notes that the exchange may change any of the listed holidays and will issue a separate circular in advance if it does. It is worth checking the exchange websites in the week before a holiday.
Earlier months are covered on MonuKeer too, for example our June 2026 market holidays guide.
